all those questions…
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I love answering people’s questions about homosexuality… I don’t know if it is because I like educating people, or demystifying myths and stereotypes or just some old fashioned hope to maybe just change people’s opinion of homosexuals one by one so that someday the world will indeed be a better place but I just love doing it…
in fact I feel myself being drawn to curious people, I’d rather have a good conversation with someone who claims up front to know nothing about homosexuality but wants to have a better understanding than trying to reason with someone wanting to make me straight… the latter tends to be a “who’s gonna bang the other’s head against the wall the hardest” kinda deal…
a classic question would be the “is there always one who’s acting as the guy and the other one as the woman?” I mean even if you don’t wanna admit it, we all look into lesbian couples and try to determine who’s the femme and who’s the butch… even with two butches or two femmes we try to determine which one of the two is more butch or more femme… which is hilarious really. it just always amazed me to realize that most people apply the same logic to heterosexual couples as well… sure there’s a man and a woman, but we all wonder trying to figure out which one of the two is the strongest physically, the strongest mentally, which one of the two does the most house cleaning and chores, which one of the two does the more manual labor etc… granted in most cases those roles are typically male vs female, but I don’t know about you, but I’ve found myself meeting a lot of heterosexual couples where the female was more masculine than the male… but yet the people who actually ask me about the male vs female roles into a lesbian relationship sound surprised when I compare with straight couples… go figure… lol
my personal favorite is “have you ever tried to have sex with a man to make sure you’re not straight? or at least wanted to try just to make sure?” I can always see that one coming as soon as the person I’m talking to learns that I’ve never had sex with a man… it was especially funny when a guy I was studying with asked me… I mean the guy is screaming gay… but in complete denial so he sleeps with as many woman as he can find online, in bars and elsewhere to try to end up enjoying it… I feel bad for him… so when he asked me I asked him if he had slept with a guy to make sure he wasn’t gay… as you can expect, he immediately gagged before answering a very clear “no”. I guess it’s in most people’s mind that we’re all born straight unless proven gay… but I’ve always loved that one cause as clear as day as it is to them that they’re straight, it’s as clear as day for me that I’m a lesbian… ![]()
