Relationship Survey

It is my firm belief that anyone entering into a long-term relationship should have to complete a survey first. If they are not honest with their answers then they should receive corporal punishment. I would gladly volunteer to administer the necessary discipline. If they are freaky and actually enjoy corporal punishment then they should be placed into a neon-pink-padded room until they are no longer a threat to a potential partner. This would probably be around the same time they start drooling and pissing themselves.Since Humans are not born with any warning labels attached…the next best thing we can do is create a mandatory long-term relationship survey. I’m not saying the government should be involved in this process, God forbid! That would screw things up even more than they already are! I’m just suggesting that before we commit to a long-term relationship we have the answers to these questions.

Do you get the impression that I’m a little pissed? Coming out of a relationship, I find myself wishing that I had known the truth about so many things before I ever went in.

So, here’s my suggestion for some questions that should be on this survey: I couldn’t care less about what their favorite color is, or their favorite scent.

These are the questions I want to know the answers to!
(these are not in order of priority)

1. Regarding Past Relationships:
Do you have any strong feelings for any of your exes? Love or hatred…I’d need to know about it!
Have you ever been cheated on?
Have you ever cheated?
How did your past relationships end?
Who ended your past relationships?
Are you still in contact with any of your exes?
Did/Does your family like/hate your exes?

2. Regarding Friendships:
Do you include your partner in your friendships?
Do you have any friendships where your partner would not be welcome?
Do you insist in being a part of all your partner’s friendships?

3. Regarding Anger:
How do you express your anger?
When angry are you able to effectively communicate your frustrations?
Have you ever touched anyone, in ANY way, when you were angry?
What are your feelings regarding:
namecalling?
yelling?
throwing things?
throwing things at someone?
hitting inanimate objects?
slamming doors?

4. Do you have rules for your partner? If so, do you apply those same rules to yourself?

5. Do you consistently procrastinate? (consistently is the keyword here)

6. Do you have a target drawn on your chest?
Are people “out to get you?”
When someone bumps into you in the grocery store, is it intentional?
Are they just being self-absorbed bastards?
Was it simply an accident?

7. Do places with lots of people and noise overwhelm you? If so, how do you react?

8. Has anyone ever accused you of having control issues? If so, what was your response?

9. Regarding Manners:
Are table manners important to you?
Do you ever chew with your mouth open?
Do you ever talk with your mouth full?
Do you take bites of food while you still have partially chewed food in your mouth?
Are table manners important to you when you’re eating at home?
Do you cover your mouth when you cough? If so, even when you’re home all by yourself?

10. Regarding Driving:
Do you yell at other drivers?
Do you cussout other drivers?
Do you turn your blinker on so that other drivers know what you’re about to do?
Or do you turn it on as you’re switching lanes or turning?
Can another driver’s actions put you in a bad mood?
Do you take other drivers’ actions personally?

11. Regarding Bad Moods/Attitudes:
Do other people make you have a bad mood?
Do you have any choice in the matter?
Do you make sure to share your bad mood with everyone around you?
Can someone else be in a bad mood and it not effect your mood?
How do you get out of a bad mood?
Do you have control over your attitude?
Do your choices effect other’s moods/attitudes?

12. Regarding Childhood:
Which issues have followed your from childhood into adulthood?
Are your parents still married to each other?
Did either parent cheat on the other one?
Who was in control of your home?

I think that’s a pretty good start! Anything you want to add?
