The One That Got Away!

the-one-that-got-away

One night at the local lesbian bar I sat with friends and had a few drinks. I felt a stare coming from the rear of the room and I slowly turned with my head down and lifted it ever so carefully as not to let the starer know that I was checking them out. When I got to full view my heart leapt. There was this really attractive girl eyeing me. I couldn’t for the life of me understand why. I swiveled back around on the barstool and turned several shades of red. Almost instantly I felt a tap on the shoulder and turned to see the girl standing right there. She said hello and introduced herself as Jennifer. I told her my name and we began to create small talk. Before we knew it we had sat there for hours talking, drinking and having an awesome night. The bar was getting ready to close and I gathered my things to leave. I walked Jennifer out to her car and we exchanged numbers into our cell phones. I was smiling all the way home! The next day I went to go and call her and my phone was DEAD! Thats right! Damn Cingular! I rushed to the phone store and they gave me a new phone but couldn’t get the old one working so I could retrieve any numbers. As you can figure I never got a call from her either! To this day I have never run into her again. I look every time I am out but with much dismay. I wish now that I would never had relied on the damn electronic device and used a pen and paper like we used to do it in the old days! Maybe then Jennifer wouldn’t have been the one that got away.
