In the Rain
I can still remember the first moment in which we met. It was raining and we were both outside smoking at one of the many restaurants that ban our kind. She had on a pair of jeans that seemed to be made for her. Fitting in all the right places the flesh behind the denim tugged on my vision. The beads of rain laid themselves down in beautiful patters across her navy colored tank top. Larger drops seemed to gather on her shoulders and waterfall down her arms.
“I hate that I have to stand in the rain to kill myself.” When I spoke she made eye contact and I questioned my awkward first words.
That night we went back into the restaurant as one. It hasn’t changed since then. She will always be my “one.” I can remember my friends harassing me about leaving our impromptu party. I worried about leaving them until she came up from behind me and put her arms around my waist.
It’s funny how we wait our whole lives for love. Some of us are lucky and find the person we are destined to be with at a young age. Others continue to make the same mistakes over and over with the same type of people. The moment I saw her I knew that there was nothing in this world that I wouldn’t sacrifice to keep her in my life forever. The best part was that I saw it in her eyes too.
She is my lover, my best friend, and the only woman that I have told all my secrets to. If you haven’t met yours yet I promise that you will. Some night, outside in the rain, when love is the last thing you ever expected to find.
