Intro To Me 101

intro-to-me-101

Where do I begin about me? Life has taken so many turns for me, it is unreal. I am a native Iowan and not so sure I should be saying that outloud! I am 40 years old(ugh, til next month) and have been out since I was 28. I have a 17 year old daughter living in Wyoming in a foster home. I was not a lesbian who was out first and then wanted children….I wasn’t even out or had any idea I was gay….just going through the motions(and a few wine coolers!) and TA DA, I am 23 and pregnant. Wow is that ever another story!

I moved to Wyoming from Iowa in 1998…yes, for a woman. Let’s just say she enjoyed things a tad stronger than wine coolers. Just beer. All beer all the time. I fell in love with Wyoming and it’s the one place I’d love to return to. The mountains and just breathing that mountain air was something different altogether. I stayed in Wyoming for over 6 years, though not with the woman. I recently moved back to Iowa to help care for my elderly grandmother and then through the wonderful world of the internet, discovered the “woman”. She lived here in Keokuk and I was still 2 hours away. Oh there is another story!

The other part of me is that I love writing and reading. I have a book I am currently trying to get published. I write lesbian fiction and just enjoy reading different things that capture me.

What else do I do?

I have worked for over 10 years with developmentally disabled adults in various agencies…group homes, sheltered workshop. I graduated from Iowa State University with a BS degree in Sociology. Now I am a caseworker working with DD adults helping them with everyday skills, paying their bills, etc.

Other things about me:

Just a fun loving girl who loves life, will do anything for a joke and a laugh…even make myself look silly. Only 1 show a night….I’ll be here all week.

Lesbian Quotes

“Women who love women are Lesbians. Men, because they can only think of women in sexual terms, define Lesbian as sex between women.” — Rita Mae Brown
