I read the article and was appalled

i-read-the-article-and-was-appalled

I read the article and was appalled. The most shocking thing I found in it was this:

Mohler said he would strongly oppose any move to encourage abortion or genetic manipulation of fetuses on grounds of sexual orientation, but he would endorse prenatal hormonal treatment — if such a technology were developed — to reverse homosexuality. He said this would no different, in moral terms, to using technology that would restore vision to a blind fetus.

“I realize this sounds very offensive to homosexuals, but it’s the only way a Christian can look at it,” Mohler said. “We should have no more problem with that than treating any medical problem.”

Intra-uterine hormone therapy is just as preposterous as genetic manipulation or abortion based solely on the fetus’ sexual orientation. That’s not even anything that can be detected! The debate over biological causes of homosexuality continues to be a hot issue across many different disciplines. There does appear to be a biological basis, but there also the idiot teenagers who do it “to be cool” or “to be different”. In that case, it is a choice. For the rest of us, it wasn’t. Who would choose discrimination, alienation, risk of being a victim of a hate crime, etc? But I digress. Changing a baby’s sexuality in the womb, or conservative parents finding out the baby is going to be homosexual and therefore aborting the child is ridiculous. It’s just as stupid as parents aborting babies who will have down syndrome, cerebral palsy, severe mental retardation, etc. Every child should be loved for who he or she is–especially by those who created him. What Mohler is suggesting is the most horrendous thing I have heard in quite a while.

Homosexuality is as common in nature as heterosexuality. It not only exists in himans, but in other animals as well. Female bonobo chimpanzees engage in homosexual behavior, as do dolphins, geese, penguins, and thousands of other species. Humans in general stand out in the Animal Kingdom because of our mating habits, being monogamous, and being the only species that engages in killing its own kind. So really, what is normal? I believe homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality and it is time that people recognized this. It’s existed since the dawn of time and, if you want to go by Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” theory, we homosexuals continue to thrive despite our inability to breed naturally.

If male homosexuals are called “gay,” then female homosexuals should be called “ecstatic.” — Shelly Roberts
