A photo of something that makes me smile: Hot cross bunny

rabbit-peeking-from-a-box.JPG

My lover and I are that breed of non-breeders: namely a lesbian couple who adopt as many species as possible. Ironically, the concept of a substitute family didn’t cross our Sapphic minds until a friend’s assertion became a Eureka moment- only without the nudity or bubbles. Apropos the photo, of one of our clan: namely our eponymously named Rabbit (it is slightly ironic here in Norway from where I tap this entry but this is lost with fellow Anglophones.).

To recreate the moment: I am standing alongside Rabbit when she has a thought, a rare occasion (we love her for her cuteness rather than any evidence of higher cerebral activity.) In a fit of exhibitionism, Rabbit leaps across the room from her four foot high platform and disappears head first through the gap in an upturned box- her target I maintain to this day. Only to emerge moments later, one hot cross bunny.

I did what any proud maternal/paternal gender coy individual would do and dashed off to record the moment. It is with some restraint (a commodity I possess in waxing and waning levels) that I desist from posting the rest of the series.

I’ve got tons of photos of my cat as well…trying to immortalise his growth and endeavours.

Lesbian Quotes

I would say that I’m a feminist theorist before I’m a queer theorist or a gay and lesbian theorist. — Judith Butler
