Politics?
| Hot: |
So let me start out by saying that I live and work in Michigan. It would be safe to say that Michigan has been hit the hardest during this recession. I live in a suburb about 30 minutes outside of Detroit. Please take a peek at Detroit’s current political TMZish issue here. The past few years I have watched as friends have been laid off, moved to a different states, and had to make their weekly calls to the unemployment hot line. The news is constantly announcing big companies leaving the state for cheaper labor in the South or the now infamous “best shore” solution.
This is only one political worry I have. There are other issues like the envoirnment, gay marriage, social security, and health insurance. In this post I’m not looking for those who agree with what I agree with. What I’m asking is how many of you feel hopeless when it comes to politics?
Before you ask me what I do to support my causes, I’m well aware of what I could or should do, but even if I did all of it I would still feel hopeless. Hopeless all the way up to casting my vote and knowing it may not even matter per the electoral college.
Will any of these people manage to change anything? Will Obama “Bring change?” Will Hillary actually be able to convince the senate to approve universal health care? Eh, probably not. I’ll vote, but I know a lot of people won’t because they too feel hopeless.
I’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter for or against.

I know exactly what you mean.
I’ll vote for who I think is the most sincere, but I know that either they will forget their promises when the win or there will be so much backlash from the rich trying to continue stomping on the poor, there’s no way that they will get anything through.
We desperately need universal healthcare. Not one more person should die or be maimed because they suffer from lack-of or not-enough-insurance-itis.
We watched SiCKO the other day and it really made me SICK.
But I know the reality. I have hope for change.
But I expect none.
