DYKE?? Why, yes I am…

dyke-why-yes-i-am

…because Dyke is no longer a bad word.

I think the world has come to a point where no words are sacred, no boundaries to what you can and cannot say. Of course, in other countries this is different, and you cannot even insult the ruler. BUT, in America, this standard is upsidedown and insideout.

We, Americans, believe “all people are created equal,” THOUGH hypocrisy flows through our veins and spouts from our mouths. We need to realize this.

Now, all people are created equal. So, isn’t it fair that there is no double standards to gays and straights??? Straights are fine to marry, but on the other hand, it is not for GAYS.

In the ’50s, [I did my research..] biracial marriage was finally legalized, though only 11% of the American population agreed with it. [According to a source]

Now, more than that of our population today agree with gay marriage. However, the government has taken 1 step forward and 2 steps back. We need to change this by raising our voices, and having them heard. We need to realize that we can reform, while being nonviolent and civilized.

So, in the ’50s, it is apparent that the government feared. They feared the Cold War, blacks, and women. So they actually, in fear, they made some pretty kickass decisions, such as allowing biracial marriage, and helping women and blacks earn more rights. Of course, even today, minorities still do not earn equal rights, but that I ASSURE YOU will change.

Now, so what are we to make of this word, DYKE???

A compliment, of course.

Because I was called DYKE for my whole high school years so far, yet I have grown to believe it is a compliment. So why? I believe it is so because it shows people fear you, and think you are more sure of yourself. The reason why they think you are more confident, is because you obviously show you orientation without fear, something these numb-nuts are totally unaquianted with. And we need to show the world just what freedom is MADE OF.

So here I am, take me as I am, and I am a proud D-Y-K-E.

Gotta problem with it??

I totally agree. I love what you wrote about people fearing us. I think it’s because of what they think we represent and the fact that we DO represent independence from a patriarchal society.

I personally still view d*** an offensive term. Maybe some don’t, but I view it like the n word between blacks; just because two guys are both black doesn’t make it okay to go up and call each other n*****s. Just because two women are both gay, doesn’t make it okay to go around calling each other d***s, anymore than it would be okay for a homophobe to come up and call us all f****ts.
