Reader Appreciation Day 2008

reader-appreciation-day-2008

Robin, over at The Other Mother, emailed me to let me know about Reader Appreciation Day. I think it’s a great concept and couldn’t wait to post about it. Truth be told, the readers of this blog are always on my mind. I have contact with the blog authors via email, but the readers have always been a mystery to me. I can’t help but wonder who has this blog listed in their favorites, I wonder about the ages and backgrounds of the readers, and most importantly I hope this blog is a place that people want to come back to.

For a long time I was the only lesbian I knew. I can remember feeling alone and thinking that I would always feel alone. Back then I wish I had a blog to turn to like TLL which is the exact reason I started TLL over four years ago. It let me know that I wasn’t alone. More importantly it let others from around the world know that they weren’t alone either. And it isn’t just the lesbian aspect of this blog. It’s about all the stories we tell. Topics like parenting, our families, and every day life events that we share on a monthly bases have become the backbone of The Lesbian Lifestyle.

So to the readers of TLL, I thank you. I thank you for finding us, I thank you for reading, and I thank you for leaving comments to let our authors and other readers in on your emotions and point of view. I know TLL isn’t as political as Pam’s House Blend, or filled with lesbian celebrities like AfterEllen, but I like to think of TLL as the little engine that could. The authors of TLL put their emotions out there for the world to read and dissect. The goal is still, as it has always been, is to make sure if you find us you don’t feel alone anymore. The authors of TLL reflect so many different ages, races, and stages in life that you are bound to connect with at least one post.

So who ever you are, no matter where you are in your life, thank you for becoming a part of the TLL community. We invite you to share your stories with us and the world, or please leave a comment to let us know you’re out there.

Hi Kelly, THANK YOU for starting and running TLL.

I’ve been out to myself for six years, since I was 49. I love this community and YOU for helping us have a place to feel connected.

I check in with TLL several times a day. I love reading people’s stories and learning different points of view.

I’m reading Judy Grahn’s Another Mother Tongue and learning so much about us. I recommend this book to all newbies like me!

Thanks Jan. One comment like yours is worth all that I’ve done with this blog. I’m glad you like the site and glad that you find it a comfortable place to visit daily.

Thank you for the comment, it means so much.
