Simply You

It is all of me that stands before you
As broken as I have ever been
The veins torn from my heart
Due to the loss of you
The loss of what could have been us

On my knees I hold your hand
I look up into your eyes and speak without words
We never needed them you and I
Why start now
Why attempt to begin something when I know it’s over

It’s just that before you leave I need to say a few things
I need to attempt to make you feel me from the outside in
Because I’m not sure what will happen once you don’t see me
There hasn’t ever been another you
Never someone who saw me the way you do

I would have held your hand through every tear
Stood by your side through all the struggles
And held you up when all you wanted was to fall back to Earth
I would have brought reality to your dreams
And peace to your nightmares

If my flaw was that I loved you too much then I shall never forgive myself
For it was you who allowed me to see the person inside me worthy to love
It was you that took all the fear and made it surmountable
It was you
Simply you

And so it shall always be
The woman I had and lost to my own heart
I’ll watch you walk away but I’ll never understand the sound of your footsteps
I’ll allow you to attempt to mend my heart
But I’ll never forget the pain of the loss of you

Wow ! This just blew me away. I could totally relate as I read your words. This is incredibly touching and I’m sure as others stumble upon it, they will feel it too. Thank You for pouring your heart out with such emotion.
