The California ruling is awesome, but the backlash is always discouraging. My partner and I were married in Canada a year ago...we vacation on the Cape in Massachusetts (where it is recognized), and soon will be living quite close to NY where it will be recognized. It is odd for us to think that we can drive one hour and be "married," and step over the border and be legal strangers.

The world is a weird place.

However, it seems to be following a similar pattern to the process by which interracial marriage bans were lifted...until it hit the Supreme court and was instituted everywhere. The majority of the public did NOT want interracial marriage bans lifted...but it was the right thing to do. I think we are starting to see that mentality take effect...hopefully.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('2771','Jul','The California ruling is awesome, but the backlash is always discouraging.
Thank you, Billie. Though I am a resident of Michigan, I voted in support of the California Supreme Court's ruling.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('2746','Jan','Thank you, Billie.
