8AGAINST8 Reaches Goal on Day 3: It Doesn’t Have to Stop There!
I’m happy to announce that the 8 Against 8 Campaign slid past our goal last night just before midnight! Over 150 readers have donated www.8againt8.com and the donations keep on coming in. Never have I been part of such an amazing out pouring of funds to support what I believe comes down to the right to love.
The fight isn’t over. Our side is still behind financially despite Hollywoods late arrival to fight against Prop 8. Dorothy Snarker of Dorothy Surrenders and AfterEllen.com said, “Reaching our goal in three days is amazing and a testament to the generosity and passion of all of our readers,” said Snarker. “But just because we reached $8,000 doesn’t mean we should stop pushing for more. Polls show the ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ votes are almost dead-even. We can’t let intolerance win because we couldn’t afford to fight hatred head-on.” 8AGAINST8 website and donate what you can.
TLL is proud to be a part of a group of 8 lesbian blogs that have banned together to fight California’s Proposition 8. This November, Californians will be asked to vote on Proposition 8, a divisive ballot initiative that would take away the freedom to marry from loving and committed same-sex couples. We’ve joined the NO on 8 campaign because we believe every Californian deserves the freedom to marry the one they love. Prop. 8 would create a separate set of rules for same-sex couples, treating them differently under law. Regardless of how you feel about marriage, it is a right that belongs to all of us, without exception.
We know that times are tough right now, but every dollar counts. The right to marry has been given and taken away from us too many times. We all need to stand up and let the state of California know that we will all come together from every state in the union and from around the globe to fight for what we believe to be right in our hearts.

Please consider another perspective. Yes on Prop 8 does not deny you the right to enjoy “lesbiatopia,” nor does it deny you any rights as a domestic partnership… it’s just not marriage!
