Humanity, Focus, and God

Hot:

There are some things on my mind that I would like to discuss with you all, and they are, as the title says, humanity, focus, and God.

Humanity = humans in general. We like to analyze and complicate things, namely, sexuality. Thanks to Prop 8 being passed, people in California can’t get married–only a sad imitation; “civil union”. California! I thought that there of all places same-sex couples would be allowed to be married… Anyways, we see ourselves as gay bi, straight, or lesbian–why? Why smack a label on it? Does it matter who one falls in love with? Whether it’s a woman falling for a woman, or a man falling for a man, or woman and man–it doesn’t matter! Love is love. It knows no gender, race, age–there is no barrier for love to be expressed. Now there are many different forms of love to be expressed in a particular manner. For instance, I love my cat. He’s cute, furry, and wakes me up in the morning with a smile on his face. I cuddle with him, and let him sleep in my bed. Now, with my best friend, I love her, too. We hug, give each other a kiss on the cheek, and spend time doing our similar interests together. (sometimes I wish we were romantically involved, but she has other plans, sadly…) Like I said–love is love, expressed in many shapes and forms, and we need to accept that.

(But…does that mean I don’t have to come out of the closet? ^^;;; )

Focus: I happen to have ADD. Adult ADD, to be technical. I take meds so that I can get my mind to shut up and let me focus on one thing at a time. Now, this is quite a new arrangement, and just yesterday, I noticed something quite significant. I was in the backseat of the car with some friends, and I usually “zone out” and look out the window with out really seeing anything–I’m a thousand miles away–but this time was different. I really looked at what passed by. I noticed the trees, their pretty colorful leaves, and I could see the texture of the bark on the trunk. And I saw the train tracks above them, and beyond that more trees. I looked out the front window and saw the lights flashing by, and the cars in front of me. I really saw things. It was amazing. I looked to my friends sitting around me, and it was like really seeing their faces for the first time. I saw how their faces were shaped, their hair color, and the small details on their clothing and jewelry. I didn’t judge or think about it–nothing was going on inside my head for once; no chatter, no music, nothing. I was just looking and seeing, and everything was beautiful. (Like from the movie “American Beauty”! :D )

Now, God…

I have trouble with this one. Science “refuses” to acknowledge a god of any kind, understandably. No hard evidence. Okay, cool, I see your logic. But, what if God and souls are unseen? Something that the physical world could not be able to detect, except for a small trace of somewhat significant brain waves? And if there is a God, what would he want with this tiny speck in the universe?

Are we–humans–so egotistical that we think we are significant in this massive array of stars and galaxies? We are so tiny, and our universe is so young, and people have been talking about the end of the world for centuries now.

What is it about the end of the world that fascinates us? Do you think we have to prepare for it–”are you ready for the end?” “No, I have so much shopping to do!” *pssh!*

Honestly, I say just live your life to the fullest–make it happy and full of laughter and love and wonder and beauty. Be all those things, because that’s what life is all about.

“Are we–humans–so egotistical that we think we are significant in this massive array of stars and galaxies? ”

Exactly. WE are just another creature, evolved from the bacterium and abpeba :) a product of random acts of mutation and then natural slection.

Enjoy what you have now.

Lesbian Quotes

When you’re in love you never really know whether your elation comes from the qualities of the one you love, or if it attributes them to her; whether the light which surrounds her like a halo comes from you, from her, or from the meeting of your sparks. — Natalie Clifford Barney
