My babies…(gawd does that sound cheesy or what?!)

Okay, so the purpose behind this tattoo…oh wow this is going to sound so silly…

You can’t see the first fairy very well; it’s sort of on the outside of my arm, but you can see the little guy close to my head. Anyway, both are fairies, drawn by a guy named Brian Froud. The significance behind the artist is that my all time favorite movie is “Labyrinth” (you know the one; David Bowie in tights with crazy hair). Brian Froud is the dude that designed the puppets for Jim Henson for the movie. When I discovered, much later in life, that he had OTHER drawings, I was drawn to them.

The one you can’t see, well, that’s a Toadstool Fairy. She is the bringer of good fortune, which, at the time I got her, was a much needed thing in my life. The little guy, he’s a Boon, and this is where it gets sort of silly/cliche. He is said to have followed families, generation after generation, protecting the children from the dark and evil things in the world, ie. the Bogeyman.

I’m afraid of the dark, so…he seemed a good fit. As for the mushroom patch, (part of which you can see)….let’s just say I was a lot more experimental at that point in my life.
