TLL Adult Toy Review: Japanese Restraint Kit

The Japanese Restraint Kit contains adjustable pink rope cuffs and a pink blindfold. This kit is geared towards those who are interested in trying out bondage for the first or perhaps the second time, but are perhaps a little intimidated by regular cuffs and restraints, or maybe just looking for something soft and luxurious. They hit their mark with this set. The pink cuffs and blindfold are anything but intimidating, and the soft, thick rope won’t hurt your skin. For beginners or those into light bondage, this is a good kit to start with.

Now, let’s go a little deeper, shall we?

Cons:

  • I was able to escape from these cuffs very easily. This may not be a con for you. In fact, the ability to escape if things get too intense may be a huge plus for you. It wasn’t for me. I would generally prefer to be securely restrained. However, for those moments when you’re quickly getting down and dirty and need some easy cuffs to slap on a pesky partner, these might just be them.
  • I can see around the edges of the blindfold. The blindfold has a plastic front that doesn’t conform to the shape of your face, so it doesn’t completely block vision. I would have preferred more complete sensory deprivation… but maybe you don’t care, or have a differently shaped face. (Ie., maybe this is just me.) Either way, if you’re looking for one that gets RAVE reviews and still won’t break the bank, check out the Blindfold with Fur Lining.

Pros:

  • The rope is really soft and comfortable. I’ve seriously never felt more comfortable cuffs. There’s none of the chaffing like you get with leather, and none of the discomfort of metal handcuffs. Also, I know I’m not supposed to talk about color, but I’m growing to like pink and I must say these are a nice shade of it.
  • The blindfold is comfortable. It has two thing elastic straps to keep it on your head, and it is not too tight. I have a large head, or so I gather from the staggering number of hats in this world that do not fit me, and this blindfold was very comfortable for even an extended length of time. I have read some other reviews on other products about people getting headaches from too-tight blindfolds. This is not the case here.
  • You can use these as handcuffs or ankle cuffs. I like having options. Also, if you use them as ankle cuffs, you can get very creative with the nookie. Take my word for it.

All in all, there are more pros than cons, and I am glad to have this in my collection. Would I have purchased them if I had not been a reviewer? I’m not sure, but I can say that after trying them I would probably buy them again if I lost them, if just for the cuffs themselves. Like I said, there are those times when quick and easy cuffs are the way to go, and these certainly don’t hamper spontaneity. If you’re thinking about introducing bondage into your relationship, this would be a good kit to start with. If these are too escapable for you, you should take a look at the Kinky Kitten’s Cuffs, which aren’t available at the moment but which look significantly more secure.
