Free thinking
That’s something I’d love to be, but I have an issue…I think it’s called “codependency”–if that’s the correct term.
I have always let people run my life FOR me; be it religion, my big brother, my best friend, SOMEBODY had to do the thinking for me.
Now that I can address this problem, how can I solve it?
How can I think for myself–break the habit of wanting/”needing” others to run my life all the time?
(please don’t tell me to go to therapy–that doesn’t work, I’ve tried. e_e I don’t trust some of those psychotherapists…)

You could try Codependents Anonymous, a support group based on the 12 Steps of AA. I found it very helpful.
Overcoming codependency isn’t an overnight deal. The root of it is a lack of trust in yourself. I would encourage you to take time each morning or evening (or both) to say to yourself, “I’m willing to see myself differently.” Do that for a month and see what happens.
