TLL Adult Toy Review: Ella

tll-approvedThis week’s review is brought to you by the letter “SexToy.” Oh, that’s not a letter? Well, then this review is brought to you by the letter “5.” That’s not a letter either? Well, that’s the number of stars I’d give this week’s toy if I rated with a numbered star system. However, my reviews are based on a completely arbitrary system that has nothing to do with stars or Sesame Street. The toy of the week is another great toy by LELO, called the Ella. I had apparently not read the description terribly closely because I thought this was another vibrating toy. I was wrong, but have to tell you, I don’t give a damn that it doesn’t vibrate. It doesn’t NEED to vibrate.

What do we have here?: The Ella is a double ended silicone g-spot dildo. One end is curved to reach and stimulate the g-spot, they call this the “g-spot kink,” and with good reason. The other end is, to put it plainly, shaped for general fucking. They call the little swell on its underside the “pleasure point.” This dildo, like all pleasure objects that LELO offers, comes in a very nice gift box, complete with a manual and a satin pouch for storing it on the go. Ella also comes with a one year warranty from LELO. It has that same lovely silky matte texture the Lily has. This is another toy that really doesn’t have any cons, so I’m just gonna give you the lowdown on my thoughts and what you need to know about this toy.

The aptly named “Thoughts & What You Need To Know” section:

  • Ella is made from silicone. This means you can use it with water based lubes only. If you use silicone lubricant you will wear down the material and ultimately destroy the toy. They suggest you clean it with warm water and antibacterial soap, rinse it with clean hot water and pat it dry with a lint free cloth or towel. They also tell you not to use cleansers with alcohol, petrol or acetone. I don’t generally need this warning.
  • The shape of the curved end is really perfect for hitting the g-spot. The first few times I played with this toy, I struggled to find my g-spot with it, but then, I wasn’t in the best position for it. If you’re looking for your g-spot, you’ll struggle to find it with any toy if you’re laying flat on your back like I was. You either need to lean on some pillows so that you’re in a reclined seated slouch position, or squat (not my favorite), or stand (not really fun for the long haul) and insert the toy into the vagina with the curve facing the front wall of the vagina. The g-spot is just two inches or so inside the vagina, and responds to pressure. Another good way to find your g-spot is to enlist the help of a friend. It wasn’t until I busted out this toy with my partner that I fell in love with it.
  • The key to finding your g-spot is taking your time and being aroused. Do whatever it takes to get there first. Watch an erotic movie, read a sexy story, and settle down with some soft music. They suggest that to get the most out of Ella that you try this toy in combination with one of LELO’s clitoral toys, such as the Lily from one of my previous reviews, to get into the mood and to get a more intense experience. This seemed pretty logical, and the two black toys looked nice side by side, so I gave that a go. Let me tell you, this is a bit difficult to do on your own. You’ve either got to have one in each hand, or you’re trying to work both with one hand.
  • This dildo is double ended. The end that is not shaped to stimulate the g-spot is tapered at the tip, swells a bit and narrows again at the neck (just before the g-spot curve). This end gives a really nice “full” feeling when it’s inside without being extremely large.

One thing I didn’t like: Being matte and silicone, if you leave it sitting outside of its satin pouch, it’ll attract dust particles. The same can be said for any silicone toy, though, and this would most definitely not deter me from buying a silicone toy.

What I liked best: The shape. The Ella boasts a really cool, very feminine shape. It’s matte, as I said before, but completely smooth. There are no sharp edges, no parts that don’t feel wonderful to the touch. This toy is truly a joy to use and touch, which is something that endeared the Lily to me, too.

Would you understand how much I love this dildo if I told you I’m seriously considering purchasing one in white? I have no idea why – I mean, I certainly don’t need one – but it’s just so fantastic. To be perfectly honest, this dildo is my new favorite, over my trusty, twisty blue one. Move dooooown the line, blue one. Ella’s where it’s at. I’d like to say thank you to SexToy for giving me the opportunity to test out this toy.

Lesbian Quotes

You can’t type what a lesbian is. We’re anything and everything. The one thing in common is that we make love to other women. So give up trying to limit us. — Amanda Bearse
