The L-Word What I Think Season 6 Episode 1 (Spoiler)

Season 6 – FINAL SEASON
Episode 1: “Long Night’s Journey Into The Day”
The MUCH anticipated beginning of the final season of L Word opens with all the girls sitting in Bette & Tina’s (TiBet, as most people refer to them as) living room. As the cute co
p starts talking, all I can think about is who she is going to sleep with (please don’t let it be Bette). Now I know that is mean to think, being that Jenny is DEAD and all. And I could have sworn it looked like Jenny had some sort of smirk on her face, while lying dead on the stretcher. Why wouldn’t the EMT’s have her face? That seems a little silly to me, being that Angelica is right there in the living room, along with the rest of Jenny’s friends. This was not the opening scene I was anticipating. I was hoping for something a little more spectacular. With all the hype about Who Killed Jenny, I was a little let down. I think the writers could have done better with that. This IS the final season after all!!!!
The credits end, and we are whisked right back to where we left off at the end of Season 5. I love that they do that because I was very curious about what happened after the party with Shane/Jenny/Niki drama. I swear I think Jenny is talking about Shane breaking her heart…not Niki. That was a very tense moment
though between Jenny and Shane, “You’ve broken my heart”. *(Everyone seems to think she is talking to Niki….but I think she is talking to Shane). Also, in that same scene, it comes out that Adele and the short bald guy has changed the ending of Lez Girls. That is so typical, the movie is ‘too gay’, that pissed me off! TOO GAY! I totally understand why Tina is so bent about the changed ending. That’s the typical male point of view, how could the girl POSSIBLY end up with the other girl when there was a man involved. That’s not romantic, that’s porn! Of course, why didn’t we think of that in the first place. Makes me sick! Having the main character of Lez Girls, Jessie, get back with Jim is just stupid and totally defeats the purpose of the film. Makes it just like every other film on the market, BORING!!
Ok, so let’s talk about Alice & Tasha. We see Alice’s apartment with Tasha, and Tasha is drunk again. Tasha is obviously irritated with Alice….and Alice’s friends keep calling and interrupting. I hope they can work their problems out…I really like them as a couple. But I do think Alice is being a little silly about the ‘almost kiss’, I feel the same way that Tasha does. Thinking IS cheating…. and if I were Tasha, I would be pissed too. Especially when Alice says she almost took advice from Shane, right before she just went down on her best friend’s ex-girlfriend….BAD person to ask for advice. In certain ways, Tasha is right, they don’t have much in common, but they have chemistry. And opposites DO attract. Alice adores her, she is so cute with her kisses and little words she says to Tasha to get her to laugh. And Tasha DOES still stick up for Alice, she loves her regardless. But I do get the feeling that Alice had decided she was done with the relationship, but maybe she is having a change of heart. If a person is thinking about cheating, even for a moment…. they might as well end the relationship right then. It just isn’t fair to the other person. Alice keeps saying that nothing happened, and that she doesn’t want to loose her…but something did happen. She held that other girl’s hand, their heads were real close, they were a breath away from kissing, she admitted she had feelings for the other girl. THAT IS CHEATING! In what world is that NOT cheating! If that were my girlfriend, I would be so hurt just knowing that she spent intimate time with another woman, you don’t have to kiss or touch to be unfaithful. Alice says she thinks she deserves a little credit for not cheating, I think I would have walked away from her right then. Why does she deserve credit for NOT cheating? Why did she put herself in the position where she would have to make a decision on whethe
r to cheat or not? And furthermore, what was she doing on a ‘date’ with another woman in the first place?! But, by the end of the episode, Tasha & Alice are on the sofa bed giggling together, making ‘serious’ faces at each other. My partner and I do the same thing, ‘the serious face’. And we both always end up laughing. It was a very relatable situation. I think all couples have those same exact moments. I have hope for the relationship….keep your fingers crossed!
Onto Shane and clusterfuck of drama…UGH, I still can’t believe she did that to Jenny! I side with Tina on that one. Jenny has been through a LOT recently, and that just made what Shane did so much worse. I think it would have been enough to make Jenny kill HERSELF. She is a bit unstable (remember her cutting herself in the bathroom a few seasons ago…) Shane stands there and tri
es to explain herself…and it looked like it was working for a moment. Jenny seemed to be softening up …then Shane said it was because of Molly, and BOOM, that was the end of any sympathy Jenny might have had, LOL. “she inspired you to eat out my girlfriend!” That was a great line. Oh, let’s not forget about fucking self centered, immature, needy, Princess Celebutwat Niki….GRRR, she is irritating. “Oh My god, poor Tiffy”, “Jenny, she only ate me out.”. I love the look Jenny gives her when she says that. What a little brat. The way Niki acted in the café, when she was with her little Entourage just made me ill, all kissing up on Shane one moment then asking if Jenny really loves her the other moment, UGH someone shut that girl up! Jenny has every right to be pissed, every right. But I am curious about one thing. When Molly stops by later to drop off the jacket and letter
, why does Jenny put it all in the attic? What is the significance to the attic? She didn’t burn it, or throw it out…weird. Jenny can be so weird sometimes…but the morning after Niki & Jenny had sex, THAT was priceless!! I don’t think Niki knew what hit her, I was cracking up. It might not have been the best way to handle the situation, but I loved the stuff Jenny was telling Niki, sooooo funny. And she DESERVED it, every little bit of it. Oh, and PS; I loved the look on Niki’s face when Jenny told her it wasn’t her she was referring to when she said “You’ve broken my heart”, another priceless line by Jenny…LOL. So all in all, this situation is pretty nasty. It is causing MUCH tension at the Planet, the other girls are trying not to pick sides…it’s just a mess and big big mess.
This whole thing with Angelica being sick, and TiBet taking her to the hospital touches me in a few ways. Firstly, I
love the camera shots of both mom’s on either side of their daughter, VERY touching, especially the one in the car when Bette & Tina kiss. My favorite scene of this whole episode. Secondly, why did it take so long to check Angelica’s temperature? Wouldn’t that be the first thing you would do when you get home and the babysitter tells you she is still running a fever? And when you took your kid’s temperature, and it read 104?…wouldn’t panic set in a little? COME ON NOW PEOPLE!!! 104?!! Lastly, I am v
ery proud of the way Bette handled the triage nurse at the hospital, about the same sex parenting. I would have lost my mind as well, but Bette has a certain way with words when she is pissed…it made me smile and turned me on a bit. I LOVE angry Bette!
Throughout this episode, there have been a few conversations between TiBet that I want to touch on. In the beginning, they are watching Shane out the window trying to get Jenny’s attention. And Tina says how much Jenny has gone through, Bette sticks up for Shane…then they decide it’s best not to talk about it. Then later, Shane is on their couch and Tina says something I really admire and can relate to; “How hard IS it to be faithful to someone you are in love with?” and Bette has NOTHING to say, obviously she can’t say a damned thing cause she cheated herself. That’s the thing that gets me, why do lesbians cheat so damned much? It’s just like Tasha said, you don’t get a medal for not cheating, it is a given! As much as I like Bette (if you couldn’t tell already, she is my favorite character), I would never have been able to take her back. I don’t care how good she looks in a black tank top…she CHEATED! That is unforgivable, the ultimate betrayal. It just taints everything. I do get a sense of comfort that her infidelity is still eating away at her. Even though she makes a promise to Tina that she will never do it again…I have a feeling she will. This IS the L Word, final season….they HAVE to have more drama than just Tasha & Alice and Shane & Jenny… Or maybe they can just bring back CARMEN!! J
Only 7 more episodes left…
