That’s the Spirit!

Hot:

Back in June 2006 when I created www.attictales.com it was with one goal in mind: TO GET LAID. I’m kidding…sort of. I just wanted to poke fun at lesbian stereotypes. Whether old ones or new ones, I felt confident that I would have tons of topics to analyze and caricaturize. Just relying on my own life experiences would give me years’ worth of self-deprecating subjects for my Mostly Harmless columns, http://attictales.com/category/mostly-harmless/. However, a funny thing started happening after each blog I wrote. Instead of just mocking myself and every day lesbian actions, I was learning some valuable lessons along the way. Who knew one could learn so much by making so many bad decisions?

Here are some mostly harmless columns for you: from pooping outside your box, http://attictales.com/2008/07/14/pooping-outside-your-box/, to following the yellow brick road, http://attictales.com/2008/11/13/follow-the-yellow-brick-road/, I’ve found Attic Tales has helped me to not only let go of a lot of my emotional baggage, but become more Zen about life in general. As a gay woman who has had more than her share of bad relationships, I hadn’t realized how angry and cynical I had become. Because I didn’t want Attic Tales to be a long road of ex bashing and blaming, I’ve tried focusing on the positive. Without realizing it, my blogs helped me heal old emotional hurts, accept responsibility for my actions, and stop living vicious cycles. I’ve been growing up…which for me has been a very spiritual experience. Not in a religious sense. I haven’t been telling people to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. However, I do knock on peoples’ doors on a regular basis. Not because I’m a Witness to anything, I just want to see if any pretty women live near my house.

I’ve found a measure of inner peace thanks to blogging and I’m very grateful for this. So whether you’re a lesbian wearing plaid and sporting an 80s mullet, a lesbian who still identifies strongly with butch/femme ways, a lesbian who wants to be a playa fo shizzle, a lesbian who wants to get married, pregnant, and U-Haul within the first 6 months of the relationship, a lesbian who is androgynous and plays softball, soccer, and tennis all in the same day, or a lesbian who doesn’t want to be labeled, categorized, or identified as anything but simply someone who loves…all of us have our spiritual paths to travel.

I hope this year does indeed bring CHANGE. The kind of change that scares you out of bad habits. The kind of change that brings you hope and leaves you feeling happier and healthier in mind, body, and spirit. The type of change that is for the better. I hope this year brings you change that gets you laid…just kidding…sort of.

I really enjoyed reading this and will soon be heading to your attic… not many people can see the genuine healing available to us if we just take the time to laugh at ourselves and allow who we have been to just float a way. Resentment over the past is an epidemic man… can’t wait to see the attic… and I hope you get laid.. well j/k… actually not so much!

Lesbian Quotes

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love heterosexuals. It’s just that they need more supervision. — Lynn Lavner
