“A Family Affair” Lesbian Film Movie Review

A Family AffairLesbian Film Movie Review
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Year: 2003
Ok, so it starts off intriguing enough and there are moments when i think i might just like this movie. Although Helen Lesniak is a hard read for a romantic lead, I think that there are many women in my life that come off like that. You know the girls who just seem like they are never going to have a relationship, the ones that annoy the piss out of you because they have their life all organized, and are hard to pull from their daily routine. I fear becoming that girl.

So she is moderately unbelievable as a lead romantic character, but then who in this world isn’t so I find it kind of refreshing to see a lead romantic character who isn’t as hot as a bomb fire at a homecoming celebration (little reference to my southern upbringing).

The mom, who wouldn’t love to have a overbearing mom like that, This coming from a homophobic mother whom I haven’t talked to in over 10 years. I thought it was absolutely adorable her setting her daughter up. She even joins the local PFLAG, how cute is that!

On to the Love interest, wow, ok now this is where it becomes unbelievable how in the heck is a woman like that (humorous as she may be) going to land a hottie like Eric Shaffer. This is where the plot becomes a little far fetched. But of couse, sometimes in life I think now how they hell did she end up with her, she fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Right. You can feel where I am coming from….. I know, not nice….. but then this is a review and not a tralala lets be nice to peoples who suffer from an appearance defisit disorder…. Im nice to those people to their face….. LOL that was mean……

All in all, this is a good movie definitly worth the rent, not so much for the buy unless you are just building your lesbian film collection (which is a fun thing to do). I took 1 point off of a 5 point scale for film quality and .5 point off for the skatter brained plot which can be hard to follow if you are three sheets to the wind and have to close one eye to focus on the screen! Which tends to be how I like to watch movies.

CHEERS

Agree with not worth buying. Not one of the films reviewed at Great esbian Movies. It just did not ring credible for me

My favourite movies on lesbians are The World Unseen and I Can’t Think Straight.
