TLL Adult Review: The New Romantix

tll-adult-review-the-new-romantix

tll-rejectedI’d like to thank Babeland for the opportunity to review The New Romantix. The New Romantix comes from Director Max Royale, and features profiles of six women “on their passionate quest for sexual liberation and empowerment.” The whole film is in HD, and the DVD comes with digital files on the disc to transfer to your iPods and the like. There’s lots of behind the scenes stuff, which I love, and they also tote “an exceptional music score.” I was pretty excited about this, because porn I don’t have to mute is a huge bonus.

What I expected (perhaps naively):

I sort of thought this was going to be more… I don’t know. I knew a lot of the scenes involved men, but I deluded myself into thinking there’d be some lesbian scenes. Maybe a description was misleading, but I think it’s more likely that I was too hopeful and read what I wanted to see. I expected a lesbian scene, and I expected some slammin’ music.

What I got:

There are no lesbian scenes. There was one, in a bouncy fun house castle (the kind you see at little carnivals) that started with Lexie Belle and Lexi Bardot making out but then Tommy Pistol comes bouncing in to join them. That’s about as close as we got to a lesbian scene here. The bouncy castle scene bothered me in general, mostly because it was too bouncy, and towards the middle I just wanted everyone to cum and go on their merry ways. The BEST part of the scene was everyone climbing out of the completely dessimated bouncy castle, corsets askew, hair messed up, covered in cum. Hysterical. It was kinda like the bounce of shame.

The Best:

The first scene with Ryan Keely was hands down the best. She starts out sitting on a sofa, talking about herself and her sexual experiences openly and honestly. It was really beautiful and refreshing. The scene changes from her sitting and talking, to touching herself and masturbating with a pretty glass dildo. I had such high hopes for the rest of this film based on this first scene.

The Worst:

There’s a scene with this goth rocker dude who does weird things with his lips when Avy Lee Roth (totally freaking drop dead gorgeous, btw) goes to kiss him. It just… bothered me. Also, the music didn’t seem all that awesome to me, but I think I must be getting old.

In Summary:

This is not a bad film. Just because I didn’t care for it, I absolutely do not think it is a bad or poorly made film. The sets are very nice, and some scenes are shot in the women’s own bedrooms, or nice stages of various sorts. The outfits are also nice, and I think many of the outfits are clothes the people own themselves, because they aren’t the typical porn costume stuff. I really love the concept, talking with a woman about her life, her experiences, her views of her own sexuality, and then filming her masturbating or having sex. It’s interesting, and pulls you into the film in a new and unique way. I would have applied this to lesbian women.

While this may not be the film for you, and certainly wasn’t a film for me, Babeland has tons of other videos, and plenty that are geared directly for lesbian women and trans folks as well. As a matter of fact, their Adult Videos and DVDs page has an All Female section. Voila! They even have a Video On Demand feature, so you can pick something out and watch it RIGHT NOW. Talk about convenient.
