TLL Adult Review: Smart Balls
| Hot: |
Ahh, Smart Balls. Similar to the Luna Beads I reviewed a short time ago, these are made by Fun Factory and available from Early 2 Bed. Smart Balls are kegal exercisers. You insert it in your vagina – which is easier for me with the Smart Balls rather than the Luna Beads because the connector bit on the Smart Balls is firmer and less floppy – and then go about your business. I wanna put this out there right now, I like Smart Balls way better than Luna Beads. Whereas the Luna Beads are hard plastic balls in a silicone girdle with a cloth-y pull cord, the Smart Balls are two balls of solid elastomer with no girdle. It’s all one piece, and the pull cord is also elastomer. There’s no interchangably weighted balls, which might be a drawback for some, but I didn’t notice too much difference in the weights of the Luna Beads, so not having options to change out for different weights in Smart Balls is fine with me. The grooves seem to make it easier to insert, and the fact that it’s elastomer means if I need a touch of lube to get it in (or if I plan to rub one out once it’s in) it doesn’t need to be waterbased. Elastomer is compatible with silicone and waterbased lubricants.
I’ve changed my opinion about elastomer recently. Elastomer is phthalates free, but it is not pure silicone, rather it’s a sort of hybrid material. It’s slightly soft. It’s also slightly porous, which means it can’t be completely disinfected. You can clean elastomer with soap and water, but not being able to be completely disinfected means you should not share this toy with another partner, and also an elastomer product should not be used both vaginally and anally due to not being able to be disinfected. The fact that this toy is for vaginal use only means that this is not an issue here, which is good.
With the Smart Balls in, you can go to the gym, do the dishes, jump on the trampoline, dance. Or, you know, masturbate a little bit. You know you want to. I wanted to go to the gym with mine, but you know how that goes… something comes up, you’re too tired, you can’t find your pants. Excuses, excuses. I really couldn’t find my pants, though. Couldn’t leave the house without ‘em (learned that the hard way), so I opted for the dancing and masturbation method of product testing. I find these feel a little less “strange” than the Luna Beads. The Luna Beads were kind of… I don’t know. Odd. Loud. I could hear them, or I could imagine I heard them, and it was unsettling. The Smart Balls are toted as the quietest kegal exercisors ever. And there you have it. They also come in a wide array of amusing colors, which I’m always a fan of. Mine are a lovely lavendar and vanilla, though I would have died if it was raspberry and pistachio to match my Laya Spot… I’m just putting it out there, you can match your Fun Factory toys if you want to.
Now, when I say kegal exercisers I realize not everyone will understand what I mean. The act of wearing the Smart Balls inside your vagina for approximately half an hour a few times a week can firm up your pelvic floor muscles. These are the muscles that you use when you really have to pee but you’re holding it in. You can exercise them by just clenching them and relaxing them over and over again, when you’re in the car, at work, etc. However the idea of Smart Balls is that the smaller ball inside that “rattles” will stimulate the vaginal muscles as it rolls around inside of the smart balls, causing natural kegal muscle exercise as your vagina works to keep the Smart Balls inside.
All in all, I love the Smart Balls. I love that the pull cord is elastomer, because that feels more sanitary to me than the fabric-y cord of the Luna Beads, and I am aware that some people found the Luna Beads took on water. The Smart Balls are one sealed unit, and do not do this. So, if you want to try out some kegal exercises, give these a try! They’re good quality, and they’re very pretty, so head on over to Early 2 Bed and check them out.
