Five things that make me happy.

five-things-that-make-me-happy

1.  Memories of my Da.  They’re are all I have left of him and boy there are some good ones.  Mostly though, I glad of the ones where he was dying of cancer and we went gopher shooting.  That made him so happy to shoot those damn things.

2.  My remaining family.  My mother who tries every day to be there for me and take care of me, mostly she makes me smile by being herself.  And my brother, who despite never have wanting to take care of me does a fine and respectable job of it and tries to be friendly to boot.

3.  My wondergirl.  Predictable thing to say but still true.  I never thought I’d find anyone like me but she is.  Undoubtedly we add to each other’s insanity but it works somehow.

4.  Books.  In a world where nothing makes sense, these are a constant comfort and boon companion.  They are my life blood.

5.  The possibility of recovery from a severe mental illness.  Even on my worst days I hope that there is indeed some relief and respite.  I never wanted to be a burden to anyone and so I keep trying.  At least that’s what I tell myself.

There ya have it. Short and sweet.
