TLL Adult Reviews Year One Giveaway!

Hot:

I’ve been reviewing sex toys for a year come the end of November/beginning of December! What now? Now I’m holding a giveaway! There are five prizes from three contributors, the fabulous woman-owned and Chicago-based Early2Bed, the brightly colored bi-coastal Babeland, and my dear friend Domina.

Because some of these prizes may not appeal to all people who enter, I don’t want to pick random winners and assign prizes, or even pick a winner and let them choose because the last guy is gonna be sad when they don’t get a choice. So! We’re running this a little differently.

There are five toys to win, and five ways to win! I’m listing them quickly below, but please follow the jump for extensive details! ENTER TO WIN ALL FIVE! (Though, no one will win more than once… that’s how it works.)

  1. WIN A CHILL PILL/JUMBO! The holidays are hectic and we all need to take a minute and chill. Tell me about how you relax when you’re stressed. Alternately, on the Jumbo name and theme, tell me about something really big that you wish for this year, material or not so material. Less than 500 words, please.
  2. WIN ROULETTE! Roulette is a game of chance and risk. Have you ever taken a risk for love? Alternate take, the tagline in this film is: Queer sex is as hard to define as it is to ignore. Talk about anything relating to queer sex. Relate it to defining identity, queer visibility, anything. Keep this under 500 words please.
  3. WIN A VELVET HARNESS! Simply tell me what it is about strap on sex that interests you. Is it a passing curiosity, or is it something that you feel drawn to, something you’re sure will be just exactly the way you were always meant to have sex? Tell me more. Less than 500 words.
  4. WIN A PINK GUMDROP GLASS BUTTPLUG! Write a sexy little Christmas story featuring REAL gumdrops. Alternately, tell me what your favorite Christmas sweet is. Keep it under 500 words.
  5. WIN A DREAMBOAT! Who do you think is hot, or rather, a dreamboat? Celebrity, non celebrity, living, dead, doesn’t matter. Tell me who, tell me why. Alternate take, if you were stranded on a boat or an island and could only take three things what would you bring? Under 500 words, as usual.

CONTEST/ GIVEAWAY RULES!

  • Enter by posting your entry in the comments, and include the number of the item you’re entering to win. (Example, “1. Chill Pill/Jumbo… I like to chill out on the sofa…)
  • Please either log in or fill in your email address when you comment. It won’t be visible to other entrants, but I’m going to need it to contact you.
  • YOU MAY ENTER UP TO 5 TIMES, one for each item, if you so choose!
  • Winners will be chosen for each item from entries for that item.
  • You must be willing to share your mailing address with me so that I can coordinate the shipping of your prize. I swear I won’t sell your info to German dominatrix midgets or any members of the Russian ballet.
  • If I pick you as a winner, and contact you, and don’t hear back from you by December 27th, I’m choosing a new winner for your prize. Sorry, folks. I know it’s Christmas time, but provide a working email and lemme know if you’ll have trouble being contacted so I can maybe allow you more leeway. I don’t want to discourage great entries because you’re gonna be out of town!

DEADLINE: December 19th at 11:59 PM EST. I am firm about this. Please get them in. Don’t stress over it! Make them quick, make them witty, I’m not looking for anything big! ONE SENTENCE is totally fine. The prizes probably won’t arrive in time for Christmas, but they’ll be a nice pampering gift for yourself to bust up those post-Holiday blues.

CLICK TO SEE THE PRIZES AND READ MORE ABOUT ENTERING!

Prize Number 1, provided by Early2Bed, the Chill Pill AKA Jumbo

“At 4.5″ x 1.3″, this jumbo-sized bullet gives you a little more to hold onto than the more traditional bullet vibe. It’s also waterproof, has variable speeds, and is silky smooth. Really, what more could you ask for from a bullet? This toy is made of hard plastic which is non-porous and can be washed with soap & water or toy cleaner. This toy is phthalate & latex-free.” – Early2Bed

How can you win Roulette? (Haha! Punny!)

Roulette is a game of chance and risk. Have you ever taken a risk for love? (I’m going with “love” rather than “sex” because I wanna hear some stories that will hopefully make me go “aww.”) Alternate take, the tagline in this film is: Queer sex is as hard to define as it is to ignore. Talk about anything relating to queer sex. Relate it to defining identity, queer visibility, anything. Keep this under 500 words please.

Prize Number 3, also provided by Babeland, Velvet Harness

“A comfy, affordable vibrating harness will have your kitty purring in no time flat. Slip on the adjustable nylon straps (fits up to 60” hips!), and slide the included sterling bullet vibe into the plush velvet pocket. Strong vibrations will set the harness wearer abuzz (and provide a milder contact buzz for those on the receiving end). Purple velvet and nylon. Three rubber O-rings included; dildos sold separately.” – Babeland

How can I win the Velvet Harness?

Simply tell me what it is about strap on sex that interests you. Is it a passing curiosity, or is it something that you feel drawn to, something you’re sure will be just exactly the way you were always meant to have sex? Tell me more. Less than 500 words.

Prize Number 4, provided by Domina, Pink GumDrop Glass Buttplug by Rubyglass 21

“The Pink GumDrop is a luxurious smooth anal toy. The light pink color will entice your senses to enjoy the gradual girth. The insertable length is about 3.5 inches with a body that slowly gets wider; starting at 3/4 inches all the way to 2.5 inches in diameter at the widest part. The base is flared for free standing, which is great for the ability to sit down on the piece. The base also has a unique feature of the ability of magnification when inserted. This toy is available in the soft pink color that slowly fades into the crystal clear glass.” – Popmycherryreviewstore

ATTENTION FOLKS. This is a big toy. Not for beginners. But, if you are not a beginner, then enter to win this baby! It’s gorgeous!

How can I win the Pink GumDrop Glass Buttplug?

Isn’t there some Christmas thing about gumdrops? Like visions of gumdrops and sugar plums? This is my holiday, I should know this! Anyway, to win, write a sexy little Christmas story featuring REAL gumdrops. Alternately, tell me what your favorite Christmas sweet is. Bonus points if you link me up to a recipe. (Kidding. I will not play favorites. Unless it’s a peanut butter cookie. No, no. I will not be swayed.) Keep it under 500 words.

Prize Number 5, also provided by Domina, the Dreamboat

“The Dreamboat, by Vibratex, is the perfect toy for women who seek triple stimulation. Shaped like, a boat, this toy is excellent for reaching new orgasmic heights. The bow of the toy has a nubbed clit stimulator that will tickle and delight you during your erotic voyage. The stern of the toy is an anal stimulator that also has textural nubs covering the surface. The insertable part of the toy is shaped for G-spot stimulation and features a vibrating bullet that is nestled deep inside of it. The vibrations are strong enough to resonate throughout the whole toy, turning those ordinary textural nubs in to tiny, humming pleasure devices. The total length is 4.5 inches with an insertable length of 3.25 inches.” – Popmycherryreviewstore

dreamboat

How do I win the Dreamboat?

I recently did my Thanksgiving post that was really more about hotties than it was about being thankful (more about being thankful for hotties, really). Who do you think is hot, or rather, a dreamboat? Celebrity, non celebrity, living, dead, doesn’t matter. Tell me who, tell me why. Alternate take, if you were stranded on a boat or an island and could only take three things what would you bring? Under 500 words.

For the Gumdrop Plug..
My favorite Christmas sweet is definitely Buckeyes. I’m not sure they’re called that outside of Ohio, but they used to be somewhat of a family tradition for us. Now that everyone’s gotten older, it’s fallen away somewhat, but they are still my favorite.
In case nobody gets what I mean..
They’re a mixture of peanut butter and confectioners sugar, rolled into balls and stuck with a toothpick, and then you dip them partly into melted dark chocolate, leaving an exposed peanut butter spot. They look just like the nut, and they’re so delicious, especially when they’ve just barely set. We did them in the winter so the cold air would set them faster (that way we could snack on them faster, too

Sorry it’s not about gumdrops.. I’m no good at stories.

by Darling Dove on December 5th, 2009 at 4:52 AM

@Darling Dove – No, that’s totally legit! I left the alternate for “favorite recipes,” so totally an awesome entry! Spread the word, if you will!

by carnivalesq on December 5th, 2009 at 7:15 AM

For my first entry, I’d like to go after Roulette.

I consider myself to be genderqueer, despite the fact that my sex is female and I present as fairly femme. It’s how I’m most comfortable. But it doesn’t change the fact that I’m more comfortable with men than women, that I’m more comfortable doing “guy” things than “girl” things, and that I prefer to take more masculine actions and roles. There’s more to gender identity than just appearance. I forget I’m female all the time, and so do my friends. To most of the world, none of this really matters because my appearance is “how it’s supposed to be”. And I suppose that’s a form of queer invisibility.

But in general, I’ve found that I make the sorts of friends who figure this out without me having to tell them “hey, I’m genderqueer”, even if they don’t know that it’s an actual thing or what it’s called. It doesn’t matter because to them, that’s just who I am. And because they are all guys and know they can count on me to hang out, grab some beers, and play some videogames.

by EffinSara on December 6th, 2009 at 1:30 AM

…and for my second entry, I’d like to go after something related. I’d like the Velvet Harness.
As I mentioned earlier, I have kind of a feminine exterior, masculine interior thing going on. I occasionally fantasize about bringing the masculine insides to the outside. I even have dreams about having a penis. To me, strapping on a dildo would be so incredibly hot, even just in solo sessions. I don’t imagine my partner would let me use it on him… yet. But I just have this strong desire to experience something phallic between my legs, and as I already own several harness-compatible dildos my lack of a harness is the only thing between me and fulfilling that desire.

by EffinSara on December 6th, 2009 at 1:42 AM

@EffinSara – …it is fun even solo. I love wandering around with a cock strapped on for no reason other than just that I want to. :)

Thanks for entering, spread the word!

1. I love to relax by sitting outside enjoying cigar and scotch. Since the weather doesn’t always allow this, my more frequent mode of relaxation is taking a long hot shower. More often than not I will masturbate in the shower and keep several toys like a fleshlight and Njoy pure wand handy to make the experience more enjoyable.

by Jack on December 7th, 2009 at 7:10 PM

3. I love anal and really enjoy having my ass played with. I have several butt toys and think a strap on would take things to a higher level. I would love to have a woman being the “fucker” instead of the “fuckee”. I think strap-on sex would feel amazing and there would make some incredible pleasure options available.

by Jack on December 7th, 2009 at 7:17 PM

4. Wow, the Pink GumDrop makes me tingle jsut looking at it, but I can’t think of a sexy gumdrop story so I will describe my favorite Christmas treat is. The treat isn’t especially Christmas-like, but it seems that they are primarily made during this season of cookie exchanges when people need something easy and different. Here is the recipe: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,169,151180-231197,00.html I just call them peanut butter sandwiches and unlike the recipe, I opt for a large amount of peanut butter. The hardest part is melting and keeping the chocolate molten while you dip the sandwiches. I suppose these could be made more Christmas like by using white and red melting chocolate or adding red and green sprinkles.

by Jack on December 7th, 2009 at 7:35 PM

1. Chill Pill/Jumbo. I love to relax by sitting around on the internet. It’s actually one of my favorite things to do. I love to read adult blogs and just write my own blogs while I’m online. As for something large I want for Christmas? I’d have to say a Suspension rack or a spanking bench. Both just to torture my bottom! (pun intended.)

by Kayla on December 8th, 2009 at 2:21 PM

3. Velvet Harness.
Why I want a strap-on? Well, mostly to be able to use it on my little subbies. Love to show them the pleasure of lesbian sex. I’m a plus-sized woman, and unfortunately, a lot of the sex toy market doesn’t cater to larger women. I’m glad to see that this harness does.

by Kayla on December 8th, 2009 at 2:24 PM

4. Gumdrop Plug – My favorite Christmas treat would have to be anything that includes coconut. Or chocolate covered pretzels. Both are amazingly yummy.

These look pretty yummy! http://www.daveramsey.com/article/marthas-holiday-recipes-debt-snowball-cupcakes/?ictid=content5

by Kayla on December 8th, 2009 at 2:27 PM

5. Dreamboat – If there was a desert island, I think I think I’d bring my laptop for my internet entertainment (Yes, I can pretend that the deserted island has internet. Or maybe I’d have to invest in that Verizon Everywhere-internet thing.) my little slave, and most likely some blankets to curl up with. I love blankets. :)

by Kayla on December 8th, 2009 at 2:32 PM

1. Chill Pill AKA Jumbo – I relax when I’m stressed by just sitting back and playing a little NCAA football on my PS2. Another way that I relax is by taking a nap as often as possible on Sunday afternoons.

by Matt on December 9th, 2009 at 7:02 PM

4. Butt Plug – My favorite Christmas sweet would have to be my mom’s sugar cream pie! It’s almost like a custard in a pie crust. It’s so sweet and I look forward to it every year!

by Matt on December 9th, 2009 at 7:06 PM

5. Dreamboat – I have always thought that Drew Barrymore is a real hottie/dreamboat. She has a young look of innocence to her. She has a perfect body and seems so down to earth and sweet.

by Matt on December 9th, 2009 at 7:09 PM

@Kayla – OGOD, chocolate pretzels… I love those. <3 Also, true facts on the harness situation!! I see you also saw over there at my Spareparts review, that's another good plus size harness!

@Jack – All you people mentioning peanut butter are making me hungry.

@Matt – I am so right there with you about Drew Barrymore. I adore her.

I’d like to win Roulette.

This is basically a summary of a paper I wrote for my queer studies class, and will later be a post on my blog, about queer identity: I believe that sexuality, essentially, is a fluid thing that may shift over time and is difficult to pin down. Gender is already difficult enough to define; when we try to define sexuality it’s even harder. Is queerness centered around sex acts, around who we fuck, around who we have loving relationships with, around how we dress and behave, around who our community is, around our bodies, or our lovers’ bodies? Or all of those things? And are they all related to each other in some way? I don’t think that any two lesbians necessarily express their sexuality the exact same way despite having the same “label.” I think that we create sexuality labels in order to have a solid identity or community, so they are useful, but don’t adequately define how things really are. A quote from Pomosexuals sums up what I believe, perfectly: “[Sex is] about the erotic energy that happens between two people.”

by Wilhelmina on December 15th, 2009 at 11:08 AM

Dreamboat -
Three items I’d bring. Tough call!
My vibe.
A hot looking nympho who knows how to build and fix stuff.
A deck of cards. (I know random, right? Ya can’t screw around 24/7!)

by OneTiredMomma on December 15th, 2009 at 4:59 PM

#1 – Chill Pill

When I’m stressed, I relax by heading to the bathroom, locking the door, and settling in for a bubble bath and a toy or two.

by Sammi on December 16th, 2009 at 4:40 PM

#4 – Pink Gum Drop

My favorite holiday sweet is gingersnap cookies (sorry, no peanut butter). I love to make them with extra molasses so they’re super chewy and good.

by Sammi on December 16th, 2009 at 4:42 PM

#5 – Dreamboat

If I were stranded on a desert island, I’d go with a vibrator, a paper clip, and MacGuyver. I figure after hot sex all over the island, he’d use the vibrator and paper clip to construct some way to rescue us back to civilization. Or else figure out a way to get the vibrator’s batteries recharged.

by Sammi on December 16th, 2009 at 4:45 PM

#5 – Dreamboat

There was a boy across the street. A professor, actually. At my college. He invited me over for Thai food. Of course I accepted. While we cooked, something else started cooking, and we ended up in the bedroom for 2 hours. It was very cold Thai food when we finally got around to it. We ate it on the front steps and I thought, as I looked at my house, “This is the beginning of a hot-ass, non-monogamous but totally beautiful relationship.” Many years later, still my ultimate dreamboat.

by Jamie Strobelight on December 16th, 2009 at 6:12 PM

@Sammi – I love molasses cookies! So delicious!

@Jamie Strobelight – Mmm. Gotta love the hot professor stories.

by carnivalesq on December 17th, 2009 at 4:08 AM

For Prize #1:

I relax by crocheting while watching classic “Doctor Who” episodes. :)

Something really big I hope for this year is free time to read and reflect on this past year.
Oh, and in my materialistic dreams I’d like a Wii. (Annoying my downstairs neighbors who smoke like chimneys would be the side effect gift that keeps on giving!) :-p

by Joanie on December 17th, 2009 at 5:24 AM

Chill Pill/Jumbo: recently my most frequent relaxation activity has been watching TV, haha. If I’m stressed I watch everything I can on hulu and forget about my life for a while.

by Toygirl on December 17th, 2009 at 8:00 AM

Dreamboat: if I were stranded island, I would bring:
1) The classic snarky answer: a boat (but I can both row and sail, so I really would).
2) The practical answer: a couple cases of Cliff bars (calorie-dense, even if you get sick of them really fast).
3) The wildly impractical answer: the internet (because if I’m cut off from a constant stream of new information I get uncomfortable).

by Toygirl on December 17th, 2009 at 8:06 AM

Wheeee! I love being a sponsor. So happy everyone is coveting my prizes! Whoot! Thanks Carnivalesq for letting me take part in your anniversary blog contest :) And congrats on making it a whole year!

by DominaDoll on December 17th, 2009 at 8:51 AM

#3 – Velvet Harness

I think strap on sex is something that has always been in the back of my mind from the time I had a dream about a girl sucking my cock. There is so much power and pleasure in penetrative sex and I think that’s what intrigues me.

by Mercury on December 17th, 2009 at 5:38 PM

2. Roulette: I think falling in love itself is a risk. Almost by definition, you’re putting your heart at risk by placing it into the hands of someone else. So yes, I have taken risks for love. And, regardless of the outcome, it’s been worth it every time.

5. The Dreamboat: I have always had a thing for Harry Connick Jr. Maybe in my everyday life I listen to punk rock and date girls covered with tattoos and piercings, but there’s something about Harry’s golden voice that makes me weak in the knees.

by Misty Kaye on December 18th, 2009 at 8:05 PM

Dreamboat
I’d say Liv Tyler’s a dreamboat because of her great personality and attitude towards others, life, and work. No matter that she gorgeous, and famous, she supports and makes time for others; and finds it important that what she does is special.

by Sandy on December 18th, 2009 at 8:49 PM

Something really big that I am asking for this year? Let’s see, where do I start, most everything I want is deemed ‘big’. I have expensive tastes, what can I say? Just like I can’t eat one Pringles, or really one of anything, I can’t think of just one big thing, so I’ll name a few.

I would like a Nook from Barnes and Noble. It would save so much space since I buy lots of books (seriously, I have over five large bookshelves that are packed with books and piles of them in my room).

I would love an 81 key keyboard, preferably one of those upright ones that come with its own built in stand. I do not play well, but if I had a nice piano sized keyboard I would play more often.

I would love one of those large (bigger than 46 inches) flat panel, high definition tvs. I have the perfect wall to place it on (and a Wii to use on it- one of the larger gifts I know I am getting). Of course I would need a surround sound system to go with it….

Something large that I would like, that isn’t material though would be finding someone I could fall in love with. Someone who would accept me for who I am, all of my faults along with the few good points I have. Someone who knew when to push and when to back off and would be willing to do either. One who was accepting of my pastimes (roleplaying, computer gaming, board games) and who could probably introduce me to new things to do. One who would be accepting and could keep up with my sexual appetites and desires would be nice too.

That isn’t too much to ask, is it?

by Autumn on December 19th, 2009 at 6:14 PM

(#2. Roulette)

Despite my confidence in most other matters, when it comes to love, I am a big sissy. I usually don’t take risks and I know I end up the loser because of it. Not sure if it is a deficit in my own sense of self worth or just how I protect myself from being hurt, but I don’t take large risks when it comes to love. Once, however, I thought the person might be worth it and I took a chance.

To be honest, I took the chance, not out of any boldness, but because I didn’t have a choice. One look at him and I couldn’t resist. It was like I knew him the second we were introduced. Usually shy, and hesitant to make the first move, I found myself inviting him out and actively pursuing him.

Looking back, I was a fool. I did all those sickening sweet things- would write him little love notes, cooked for him, would do his laundry for him. I rearranged my whole life for him, but I was more than willing. At first it was great, I wasn’t the only one writing those notes and he would bring me little presents almost every time he stopped by. I didn’t feel I was being taken advantage of and I thought I had met the love of my life.

Then I met his sister and realized what I felt for him was nothing compared to how I felt about her. I wish I had met her first.

by Autumn on December 19th, 2009 at 6:25 PM

(#3 Velvet Harness)

What intrigues me most about the idea of strap on sex is the fact it seems more natural to me. Granted, I have never actually had strap on sex although I have experimented with penetrating partners with dildos, but the idea of being in control, about spreading the other person open, being inside of them that seems more natural to me than being the penetrated person.

The idea of having a harness, of having everything in the ‘right spot’ so to speak and be able to take someone else? Yes please….

by Autumn on December 19th, 2009 at 6:57 PM

@Autumn

Sorry, that should be for the entry #1 Chill Pill

by Autumn on December 19th, 2009 at 7:00 PM

(#5. Dream Boat)

If I was stranded on a boat or an island, the three things I would want with me are: a Barnes and Noble Nook, notebook with pencil and my iTouch. This is assuming of course, I would be given the basics (food, sex and internet service). With the Nook, I would have an endless source of reading material. A notebook and pencil would allow me to write and my iTouch would provide me with my music, games, chat and email. All the necessities.

by Autumn on December 19th, 2009 at 7:08 PM

I’m curious if the winners were posted anywhere. I’m kinda excited to know who won. :)

Lesbian Quotes

Introductions are tricky in a lesbian relationship. It’s a
    word game.
To my friends she’s my lover, to strangers and family
members in denial she’s my roommate, to Jehovah’s Witnesses
at the door she’s my lesbian sex slave, and to my mother
she’s Jewish and that’s all that matters.”
