TLL Adult Review: Nippies

Nippies. Patch of Freedom, they call them. Patch of Fire, I say. Nippies are colorful, patterned or sparkly fabric pasties backed with some kind of “safe, hypoallergenic medical adhesive,” essentially. They’re meant to be worn beneath sheer or low cut tops, to prevent bra-lines, and to keep that “comfortable naked feeling” when you must be otherwise dressed. Mine are star shaped, and one set is glittery while the other is more sequined, and there are tiny ones of each variety meant to use as “testers” to see if you’re allergic to the adhesive. I tested these on my cleavage area, and wore them through a full work shift (beneath an appropriate work shirt) with no problems whatsoever. That’s why I was so surprised by my reaction to the real things.

Thank God I used the small cotton circles to keep my nipple from contacting the adhesive because after wearing the Nippies on my nipples for 6 – 8 hours (no longer than my test period) I had redness on my breasts where the adhesive had touched me. I thought that was the worst of it, but on further inspection, I had a small scar on my right breast where the edge of one star was. It ripped a bit of skin, apparently, and I bled and it scarred. To be fair, they did warn not to use it on sensitive skin (like breast tissue?). Not cool, Nippies. Very not cool.

The redness lingered about a day, but did fade and I have no lasting boob damage. I can’t recommend these for anyone with sensitive skin. Since you can’t be sure if they’ll be okay even if you use the test Nippies, there’s no knowing whether you’ll react badly to the adhesive. I think they’d work best for very short term, for showing off in the bedroom and then removing them (gently!), etc. Which is kind of pointless, because they’re marketed as an alternative to bras for underneath sheer garments and ripped tees. I’d rather rock a sassy bra and have happy nipples then use these and look like I’ve been boob-raped by starfish.

If you’re very daring, check out Nippies. If crying in the corner and cupping your bleeding, irritated red nipples doesn’t sound like the best end to a sexy evening, then join me in the lingerie department.

Wow, that is a really weird reaction. I wear Nippies all the time since I am smaller chested without any problem. No redness, no bleeding, no pain taking them off. Wonder why your “ouch” factor was amped up?

I grieve for your firey nipples.

@Kir – I may be sensitive to the adhesive. It may not have caused a problem at the start, but during the second exposure. That can happen sometimes. To be honest? I don’t really know. But I’m not going to try them for extended periods of time any time soon.

@Epiphora – AS YOU SHOULD.
