GUEST POST: Poems of the heart: ‘Pining for a Dream’; and ‘Love is Pain’
Pining for a Dream
—————————
Pining for a dream
Searing touches
Heated exchanges
Flashing moments in time
Pining for a dream
Silken touches
Sateen caress
Breath caught in unspoken prayer
Pining for a dream
Sparkling laughter
Shadows moonlit twain
Pining for a dream
Tastes forbidden and divine
Hidden fountain, Ambrosia. Sacred wine.
Writhing beneath the cloak of night
Pining for a dream
Shrill reality shatters the air
Echoing sorrow’s cry
You fade from my view
Leaving nothing but unwelcome daylight
And I sprawl back in bed,
Searching the ceiling for answers and
Pining for a dream.

Love is pain
————-
Love is pain
Pain that lodges like a mortal wound
Twingeing beneath my breast.
There is no fairy tale
No happily ever after
It is always pain,
The pain of loving
Our souls stretched out
Reaching towards one another
Across a sea of impossibilities
The pain of being near you
Breathing in your scent
The remembered taste of your lips
An ambrosia that nothing can replicate
Is sweet torture
Tears of parting
A salty sweetness
Hidden from your view
A bitter knowing that we cannot be
The pain of seeing you with another
The dagger of knowing I cannot be in your arms
Pales ‘neath the pain
The pain of not having you near me
To resist the pain of seeing you
I cannot breathe
Though fate has chokes my words
My sobbing breath echoes in my soul
Every breath you take
Your smile
Delight is the simplest thing
Memories
Precious jewels stored mind
A vault that echoes with words I cannot say
