TLL Announces the 5+ Award

It’s that time of year again. When I single handily go through TLL’s blogroll and delete those blogs that are no longer with us, update url’s, and nod my head up and down in silent pride for those blogs that are still going strong. I feel compelled to commend those blogs that continue to be a part of the lesbian blogging community year after year. Some have made it huge, while others are just fine within their carved out place on the net.

Lesbian blogs serve so many purposes. I believe the closest to my heart is telling our stories to all that will listen. That, along with showing the world that we are all much more a like if one just takes the time to listen. Though our love may not be what someone grew up being familiar with it is still a very normal love.

I applaud the lesbian bloggers that use their blogs as a journal and share their day to days with the world. I hope you know that your words have saved lives, allowed women to know they are not alone, and have shown those who are unfamiliar just how familiar our lives are.

I am so proud of the top 100 lesbian blogs that bring to the community news and information that I never had access to just a decade ago. Acting as giant online social hubs for lesbian women around the world these blogs are a beacon of light where there was once only one gay person on TV. Any women with access to the Internet can see that is is one of so many.

I would like to take the time to share with the TLL readers just a few of the amazing blogs that have been around for 5+ years. They have withstood the test of time and are now the storytellers of our generation. I will be contacting the bloggers that have been contributing to the community for over 5 years to supply them with the above graphic and thank them for their words. If you are a lesbian blogger that has been blogging for over 5 years please feel free to grab the graphic above and post it proudly on your site.

Thank all of you for your dedication, love of writing, and being a integral part of the lesbian blogging community.
