“Q.” – A comedy webisode series about queer life on campus
“Q” is an 8-episode, non-commercial webseries about young adults today living in a culture where we’re no longer quite as tied down by gender or sexual “norms,” where the question of who you’re supposed to like or who you’re allowed to be is more up in the air than ever before. It’s a comedy that addresses these issues in a real and engaging way, delving into the intimate lives of a group of college friends without resorting to stereotypes or how the LGBT community has typically been represented in the media in the last decade. It’s a comedy webisode series about queer life on campus that addresses a wide range of topics in the LGBT community and how our generation deals with them — the main characters include transexual, bisexual, pansexual, and homo and heterosexual guys and girls. Being a comedy, the show focuses on a lot of the positive aspects of living in a community and generation that’s closer to accepting queer lifestyles, but also addresses the natural tensions that can arise.
The show is produced completely by students in the city and is a not-for-profit endeavor. Funding has been generously provided by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation (providing many on-campus arts grants through the Columbia Arts Initiative), and equipment has been donated by Columbia Undergraduate Film Productions (a student-run film club). The Columbia Queer Alliance sponsored the making of the show on campus.
It’s the aim of the cast and crew to spread awareness of the different lifestyles that exist in our generation — we hope everyone enjoys watching the show as much as we enjoyed producing it.
