In Berlin, opposite the monument for the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, there is another monument, just across the road, for the gays and lesbians killed in the Nazi-regime because of their sexual orientation. It is a granite cube incorporating a video screen showing a film of two guys kissing (the film is supposed to be changed [...]
The other night my partner and I stuck it out for two whole games while being heckled by a couple of men at the pool table. They were agressive and full of sexist and homophobic insults. I won’t bore you with the all too familiar details. The barwoman has promised to throw them out next [...]
First, I’d like to preface this by saying that I am a sixteen year old Junior in high school, and I came out in early 2007. I was raised Southern Baptist, and one of my earliest memories of homophobia within my own family was when I was around the age of 7. I remember quite [...]

On Saturday, I got a good dosage of nice clean social homophobia. I went out to lunch with two friends (one knew I was gay, the other did not), and one girl was talking about her new beau. She turned to me and asked if I had a boyfriend. I said no, but I have a girlfriend. Suddenly, she sat up straight and exclaimed, “YOU’RE BI!” I said, no, “I’m gay.” (Heads turned.) Well, she couldn’t believe it, and asked for a clarification, “You mean you’re lesbian? You like women?” For affirmation, she turned to my other friend who responded with, “She’s a little bit lesbian.”

Issues that are important to me??? [...]
