To Be Young, Gay, and Without a Voice

to-be-young-gay-and-without-a-voice

First, I’d like to preface this by saying that I am a sixteen year old Junior in high school, and I came out in early 2007. I was raised Southern Baptist, and one of my earliest memories of homophobia within my own family was when I was around the age of 7. I remember quite [...]

Oslo Gay Pride 2008- Lesbians on the line

oslo-gay-pride-2008-lesbians-on-the-line

This June was a month of double celebration in Norway.
Firstly, the gender-neutral marriage law was passed, making Norway only the sixth country in the world to legalise same sex marriage. Furthermore, this was in the form of eradicating the gender specific language in the previous marriage law and rewriting the constitution.
Secondly of course, gay pride [...]

The ACLU LGBT Project

the-aclu-lgbt-project

Lately I’ve wondered what the world will be like when my two year old niece is my age. Just yesterday I was watching her chase bubbles around the back yard without a care in the world. She doesn’t know about discrimination yet, she thinks that money is just more paper she can color on, and [...]

inappropriate concern

inappropriate-concern

The woman I call my best friend has known me since middle school. We are slowly approaching twenty years of friendship. Our birthdays are about 2 weeks apart, we’re both Libras. To look at us on paper, we couldn’t be more different, then you listen to our philosophies on life, what our needs are and [...]

Just how gay are you?

On Saturday, I got a good dosage of nice clean social homophobia. I went out to lunch with two friends (one knew I was gay, the other did not), and one girl was talking about her new beau. She turned to me and asked if I had a boyfriend. I said no, but I have a girlfriend. Suddenly, she sat up straight and exclaimed, “YOU’RE BI!” I said, no, “I’m gay.” (Heads turned.) Well, she couldn’t believe it, and asked for a clarification, “You mean you’re lesbian? You like women?” For affirmation, she turned to my other friend who responded with, “She’s a little bit lesbian.”

2. Where do you get your information on politics. What issues are most important to you?
I get my info on politics from MANY sources…. which is the way to go, if you ask me… you get many different standpoints and can break it down to what YOU think really happened…
Issues that are important to me??? [...]

ex-gays

ex-gays

I didn’t see this topic posted anywhere around the site, so if I missed it… sorry!
Glamour did an excellent story of Christine Bakke, an ex-ex-gay (lesbian therapied- straight…then lesbian again).
A couple quick excerpts from the article:
While taking the course, she left the auto parts store and took a higher-level job doing production at a small [...]

Filterless

filterless

I’m new here, I’d like to stay as anon as possible because I tend to be a bit controversial. I’ll say this once, I don’t care what people think and I don’t really care if what I say hurts your feelings. When I’m at home I have to use the “filter” as my wife calls [...]
